Details
Blur and mosaic make part of a photo or screenshot unreadable. Typical uses: hiding faces and names before posting on social media, masking addresses or account numbers before sending an inquiry, and covering notifications or email addresses in screenshots you paste into a document.
The tool runs on the browser Canvas API. Blur uses a Gaussian filter, and mosaic shrinks the selection to a tiny canvas before scaling it back up, so only pixels from the original image inside your selection are used. You can add any number of areas and undo them one at a time. The original image only ever exists in your device memory.
One caveat: blur and mosaic are not irreversible by design. With a weak strength, text can still be guessed. Animated GIFs are exported as a still image (the first frame). When hiding personal information, raise the strength until the shapes of letters disappear.
FAQ
Which is safer, blur or mosaic?
Mosaic averages the area into coarse blocks, which is generally harder to reverse for text. With a weak strength, either can remain readable, so raise the strength until letter shapes disappear.
Can I hide several areas at once?
Yes. Add as many areas as you need, and use Undo to remove the last one step by step.
Can I undo the edits?
Undo and Clear all restore the original inside the tool, but a saved file cannot be undone. Keep the original untouched and save under a different name.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. It runs entirely in the browser, and you can drag selections with touch.
