Details
Rotating and flipping are the basics for fixing orientation or making mirrored images: straightening a phone photo that came out sideways, turning a scanned page the right way up, or producing a left-to-right mirrored version for a design.
The tool runs on the browser Canvas API. Rotation works in 90° steps, and flipping works horizontally or vertically. Because the original pixels are reused, combining rotations and flips does not degrade quality, and 90° or 270° rotations swap the width and height automatically.
Everything happens on your device - images are never uploaded. Animated GIFs can be loaded but are exported as a still image (the first frame). JPEG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white.
FAQ
Does rotating reduce quality?
No. Rotating in 90° steps and flipping only rearrange the original pixels, so the image itself does not degrade. Only the format and quality settings you choose affect the result.
Can I rotate by an arbitrary angle, like 45°?
This tool rotates in 90° steps. To straighten a photo that is slightly tilted, use a tool with tilt correction instead.
Can I undo a rotation?
Press Reset to return to the original inside the tool. A saved file cannot be undone, so keep the original and save under a different name.
Why does transparency disappear when saving as JPEG?
JPEG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. Choose PNG when you need to keep transparency.
