Image Background Transparency

Making a background transparent means turning the background color into full transparency so only the logo or illustration remains. Transparent PNGs are what you need when placing an image on top of a fixed background, such as slides, business cards or app icons.

The tool uses chroma keying: you pick a color, and pixels close to it become fully transparent. The tolerance slider controls how many similar colors are removed along with it. Enabling Soften edges makes the boundary semi-transparent so hard edges look smoother. Everything runs on the browser Canvas API and nothing is uploaded.

This approach works best for logos, screenshots and illustrations with a solid white or single-color background. Complex photo backgrounds or gradients will not key out cleanly. In that case, use source material with a flat background, or fine-tune the tolerance until the result looks right.
