Details
Cropping means cutting an image down to just the part you need. It is handy for improving composition, making a square profile picture for social media, removing something unwanted at the edge, or matching the aspect ratio a document or print layout requires.
This tool runs on the browser Canvas API. The loaded image stays in memory, and the crop area is tracked in the coordinates of the original pixels. On export, that region is drawn to a canvas and encoded as PNG, JPEG or WebP. The pixels are copied at their original scale without upscaling, so cropping itself does not degrade quality. JPEG and WebP offer a quality slider for the compression level.
Your image is never sent to a server; everything is processed on your device. That makes it safe for travel photos, work screenshots and confidential material. Animated GIFs can be loaded, but they are exported as a still image (the first frame).
FAQ
Does cropping reduce quality?
No. The crop copies the original pixels at their native scale, so cropping itself does not degrade the image. Saving as JPEG or WebP compresses according to the quality you choose; PNG is lossless.
Can I lock the aspect ratio?
Yes. Pick a preset such as 1:1, 4:3, 3:2 or 16:9 and the handles keep that ratio. Choose Free to crop at any ratio.
Can I crop an animated GIF?
You can load one, but the export is a still image (the first frame). The animation is not preserved.
How large can the image be?
Images up to 50MB are supported. Extremely large images may fail depending on your device memory.
