The QR code reader detects a QR code inside an image file and extracts its text. It helps when you cannot point a camera at the code — screenshots, images received by email, or photos of posters.
Decoding runs in your browser using the open-source jsQR library bundled with the page; images are never uploaded and no camera permission is needed. PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF and BMP up to 10 MB are supported. Detection quality depends on sharpness, lighting and the angle of the code, so adjust those when a scan fails.
Copy the decoded text to use it. If it contains a URL, check that the destination is safe before opening it — QR codes from unknown sources sometimes lead to phishing sites. To create a QR code instead, use the QR code generator on this site.

Which formats and sizes are supported?

What if an image contains several QR codes?
