How to uncapitalize text in three steps

1. Open the Text Converter and paste your text into Input.
2. Select Lowercase to remove capital letters: HELLO World! 123 becomes hello world! 123.
3. Copy the Output text. The original Input stays unchanged.

This is also called converting to lowercase, decapitalizing text, or removing all caps. It changes characters that have a lowercase form; it does not shorten the text or delete punctuation.

Choose lowercase, uppercase or title case

Lowercase removes capitalization from the whole input. Uppercase capitalizes the whole input. Title Case first lowercases the text, then capitalizes the first letter of each word, including words after spaces or hyphens. The simple converter keeps apostrophes inside a word: DON'T PANIC becomes Don't Panic.

Title Case is not sentence case: HELLO WORLD becomes Hello World, not Hello world. There is no separate sentence-case button in this tool.

Does title case follow a publishing style guide?

No. The automatic option capitalizes each word, including “Of” and “The.” It does not apply a particular publisher’s title rules or recognize proper nouns. Check the result against your required style before publishing it.

What happens to acronyms and brand names?

Lowercase turns NASA into nasa and iPhone into iphone. Title Case turns them into Nasa and Iphone. Uppercase produces NASA and IPHONE. None of these operations can infer the original intended spelling once it has been lost. Keep the input and review names before replacing your document text.

Does it work beyond English?

Uppercase and lowercase use JavaScript’s Unicode case conversion. Letters outside A–Z can also change: ÉCOLE becomes école, while straße becomes STRASSE in uppercase. A conversion can therefore change the number of characters.

Japanese hiragana, katakana, kanji, digits and punctuation do not have uppercase/lowercase variants. For example, こんにちは ABC becomes こんにちは abc. The tool does not select language-specific casing rules, such as Turkish dotted and dotless I. Review language-sensitive text separately.

Changing letter case also does not convert character width. Use the full-width/half-width converter for that, with the width conversion guide explaining the difference.

Remove blank lines and trim spaces

The same tool can clean up pasted notes without changing capitalization:

• Remove Blank Lines deletes empty lines and lines containing only whitespace. It keeps the other lines in order.
• Trim whitespace removes leading and trailing whitespace on each line, plus outer blank lines. It keeps spaces inside a line and blank lines between nonempty lines.

Each action starts from Input, not the previous Output. To apply lowercase and then trim, copy the lowercase result back into Input before selecting Trim whitespace.

What do the counts measure?

The displayed counts describe Input: Unicode code points, newline-separated lines and UTF-8 bytes. A visible symbol can contain multiple code points, so this is not a word count or a guarantee that text fits a specific social network’s limit. Paste Output back into Input if you want to count the converted text.

Frequently asked questions

Can I uncapitalize a whole paragraph at once?

Yes. Paste the paragraph and select Lowercase once. Line breaks and punctuation remain in place; names and acronyms become lowercase too.

Will turning Caps Lock off fix text I already typed?

Turning Caps Lock off affects future typing. To change existing text, select it in your editor and use that editor’s case command, or paste it into the converter and choose Lowercase.

Why did a second action ignore my first result?

Every button reads Input. Copy Output back to Input when you want to chain transformations, such as Lowercase followed by Trim whitespace.

Is my pasted text uploaded?

The conversion runs locally in the browser. The text you type and the converted output are not sent to the server by this tool.
